Age of Popcorn Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026. The Portuguese version is the official one; this English version is a courtesy translation.
1. Who we are
Age of Popcorn is made by ButterPop, the name under which independent developer Yuri da Silva Mello Garcia, an individual, publishes games. Under Brazilian law (LGPD), this person is the data controller. City and state: São Paulo, SP.
Privacy contact: duofinder.contato@gmail.com. Data protection officer (LGPD, art. 41): the controller, at the same email.
2. What data we process
| Data | What it is and what it is for | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Player ID | A number generated by Unity's account service (Unity Authentication) so we can recognize you on any device. It is the basis of your saved village. It is created only after you accept the Terms and this Policy. | Created after you accept |
| Login account (optional) | If you choose to link a login account (for example, a Google account), the login happens on Unity's page (Unity Player Accounts). We never receive your password. Unity and the provider you choose process the login data under their own policies. | You, when you link |
| Steam account (Steam version) | Your public Steam account number (SteamID), used to sign you in without typing anything and to keep the same village. The game does not use your Steam friends list. | Steam, when you open the game |
| Display name | The name you choose. It is visible to your friends, to players who attack you or whom you attack, and on leaderboards. Do not use your real name or personal information. Anyone who says they are under 18 appears under another name on leaderboards and in attacks (section 4). | You |
| Game data | Your village (buildings, troops, resources, Crests, shield), stats, achievements, recent matches, Survival best score, Crest League division and rank, daily reward, attack reports. Stored in Unity Cloud Save. | The game |
| Friends list and invites | Who you added, pending requests, whether you are online, and game invites (Unity Friends). Match invites only arrive from your friends. Anyone who knows your friend code can send you a friend request, and you accept or decline it. | You and your friends |
| Online match data | Rooms and connections between players (Unity Multiplayer Services and network relay). These services process your IP address and connection data to connect players. | The game |
| Terms acceptance and age bracket | At first launch, an acceptance screen asks you to choose your year of birth and to tick that you have read and accept the Terms of Use and this Policy. The game uses the year only to decide whether you are under 18 and does not store your year of birth or your age. We store only three things: whether you are under 18 (yes or no), the date of acceptance (in UTC time) and the Terms version accepted. This is kept on your device and in your account (Cloud Save). | You |
| Voice chat | Microphone audio, only between allies in the same match or the same friends group, through Unity's voice service (Vivox). Voice starts off for everyone. You turn it on in Options, Sound tab, Voice chat, and off whenever you want; during a conversation there is also a microphone button and the M key. The game does not record voice and ButterPop does not store audio. The audio goes through Unity's voice service, which processes it under Unity's policy. | You |
| Game configuration | News, notices and settings delivered without updating the game (Unity Remote Config), and attack rules checked on the server (Unity Cloud Code). | The server |
| Technical data | To work, Unity's services receive technical data about the connection and the device, such as IP address, game version, operating system and language. Unity uses this data to run the service and prevent abuse. What each service collects is described in Unity's policy (section 4). | Your device |
| Local preferences | Volume, language, frame rate limit, voice option, saved login, local copy of your village. Stored only on your device (Windows registry and game folder). | The game |
What we do not do: we do not collect location, contacts or photos, and we never see payment data (purchases are handled by Steam). We show no ads, sell no data and build no advertising profiles. There is no text chat. This website uses no cookies, trackers or external fonts.
Before you accept, nothing leaves your device: without acceptance, the game does not create an account, does not sign in and does not send any data about you.
3. Why we use it and the legal basis (LGPD, art. 7)
| Use | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Signing in, saving and loading your village, online play, leaderboards | Performance of the contract to use the game (art. 7, V) |
| Preventing cheating and abuse, checking attacks and rewards on the server, keeping things secure | Legitimate interest (art. 7, IX) |
| Record of acceptance of the Terms (version and date) | Regular exercise of rights (art. 7, VI) and performance of the contract (art. 7, V) |
| Age bracket (under 18, yes or no) to apply the protections for minors | Protection of children and teenagers in their best interest (LGPD, art. 14) and compliance with a legal obligation (art. 7, II) |
| Voice chat and linking a login account | Consent, which you give by turning the feature on (art. 7, I) and can withdraw at any time |
| Complying with the law and answering authorities | Legal obligation (art. 7, II) |
4. Who we share it with
We are a small studio and use service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Unity Technologies (Authentication, Player Accounts, Cloud Save, Cloud Code, Remote Config, Leaderboards, Friends, Multiplayer Services, Vivox). Policy: unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Valve (Steam), to distribute the game and, in the Steam version, to sign in with your Steam account and for achievements. Policy: store.steampowered.com/privacy_agreement
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with it, through Unity's flow. Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Other players can see: your display name (friends), your village level, your Crest League rank and leaderboard positions and, when they attack your village, the layout of your buildings and your defending troops at that moment. When you attack someone, the defender sees your name in the report.
For anyone who says they are under 18, the leaderboards (League and Survival) and attacks (the attacker's name, the name of the attacked village and the defender's report) show "Player" plus four numbers instead of the chosen name. Friends still see the chosen name.
We do not sell or rent data to anyone.
5. Transfers outside Brazil
Unity, Steam and Google process data on servers outside Brazil, including the United States. This is needed for the game to work. Transfers follow the LGPD (art. 33) and each company's own safeguards.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account and village for as long as the account exists. Villages of players who have not opened the game in 14 days stop appearing for attacks but stay saved. When you delete your account (section 9), your game data and your player account are deleted. We may keep the minimum required by law.
7. Your rights (LGPD, art. 18)
You may ask at any time for: confirmation that we process your data; access; correction; anonymization, blocking or deletion of unnecessary data; portability; deletion of data processed with consent; information about who we share data with; information about the option not to consent and its consequences; and withdrawal of consent. We answer within 15 days, as LGPD art. 19 requires. You may also complain to the Brazilian data protection authority (ANPD): gov.br/anpd
8. Children and teenagers
- Age of Popcorn is not recommended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. The game cannot confirm anyone's age: on the acceptance screen, anyone who picks a year of birth that points to age 12 or younger is asked to have a parent or guardian read it along. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete the account and its data. Steam and the app stores have their own minimum-age rules.
- Teenagers aged 13 to 17 should play with their parents' or guardians' knowledge. Processing of children's and teenagers' data follows their best interest (LGPD, art. 14).
- Acceptance screen and age bracket. At first launch, and again whenever the Terms or this Policy change, the game shows the acceptance screen, which asks for your year of birth. The game stores only whether you are under 18 (yes or no), plus the date and version of acceptance, never your year of birth or your age. Because the game uses only the year, anyone who turns 18 during the current year is treated as a minor, and so is an invalid year. People under 18 should use the game only with the knowledge and permission of their guardians, who agree on their behalf.
- What changes for anyone who says they are under 18 (measures designed with Brazil's ECA Digital, Law No. 15.211/2025, in mind): the display name is hidden on leaderboards and in attacks, where "Player" plus four numbers appears; voice chat starts off and, in the match connection notice, the turn-on button only points to the Options (voice is turned on in Options, Sound tab); match invites only arrive from friends; there is no text chat, no ads, no real-money purchases and no loot boxes.
- For everyone, voice starts off: it exists only between allies in the same match or group, you turn it on in Options, Sound tab, and off at any time. Minors can also turn voice on there. We recommend that guardians talk with the minor about it.
- Parents and guardians can ask by email for deletion of a minor's account, access to the minor's data and information about how it is processed, or delete the account in the game or on the deletion page (section 9).
9. How to delete your account and data
- In the game: Options, Account tab, Delete my account. There are two steps: a warning and a final confirmation ("Delete forever"). The game then deletes your Cloud Save data, your Unity player account (Unity Authentication), the local copy of your village and the account preferences on this device, and removes your village from the list of attack targets. Afterwards the game goes back to the start, as a new account, and asks for acceptance again. You cannot delete during a group, an online match, a match search, a voice conversation or an attack: leave first.
- On the deletion page, which explains everything, also for people without access to the game: butterpop.duofinder.com.br/en/age-of-popcorn/excluir-conta
- Or on Unity's site: player-account.unity.com/delete-account. This deletes your Unity login account (the Google one, for example), which is separate from the player account and which the game does not delete. To make sure the village and game data are deleted too, also send the email in item 4.
- Or by email to duofinder.contato@gmail.com, with your display name and, if you can, your device. We delete the village and game data within 15 days.
- Access requests and other rights about Unity login data can also go to unity-player-login-privacy@unity3d.com.
Some records tied to your player number, such as the friends list and positions on leaderboards, are held in Unity services outside Cloud Save, and Unity processes them under its own policy. If something of yours still appears after deletion, write to the contact email and we will delete what is within our reach within 15 days.
10. Security
We rely on Unity's services, which have their own security measures (see their policy). No system is fully secure. If an incident that could cause relevant harm occurs, we will notify you and the ANPD, as the LGPD requires (art. 48).
11. Players outside Brazil
If you live outside Brazil, your local law may give you similar rights (such as access, correction and deletion). Write to the contact email and we will honor what the law requires.
12. Changes
If this policy changes in an important way, we will tell you in the game (News), raise the version number, update the date at the top and the game will ask for acceptance again.
