ButterPop

Age of Popcorn Terms of Use

Version 1 · Last updated: October 16, 2026

Effective October 16, 2026. The Portuguese version is the official one. This English version is a courtesy translation. Brazilian law applies.

1. Who we are and how you accept

1.1. Age of Popcorn (the "Game") is published by ButterPop, the name under which Yuri da Silva Mello Garcia, an individual based in São Paulo, SP, Brazil, publishes games ("ButterPop", "we", "us").

1.2. These Terms are a contract between you and ButterPop. The first time you open the Game, an acceptance screen appears, which asks for your year of birth. By ticking the box "I have read and accept the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy" and tapping or clicking "Accept and play", you state that you have read and agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. Without accepting, you cannot play: before that, the Game does not create an account or send any data about you.

1.3. We keep a record of your acceptance (Terms version, date in UTC time and whether you are under 18) on your device and in your account, so we can prove that you accepted.

1.4. If you are under 18, also read section 5.

1.5. If you do not agree, do not use the Game. Purchases made on Steam follow Steam's refund rules.

2. Words we use

  • Account: your profile in the Game, identified by a number generated by Unity's account services and, if you choose, linked to Steam, Google, Apple or an email.
  • Online services: the servers and features the Game uses over the internet, such as village saving, player versus player raids, friends, leaderboards, the Crest League, duo matches and voice chat.
  • Crests and resources: virtual items in the Game (section 8).
  • Player content: what you create or choose in the Game, such as your display name, village layout, voice and suggestions you send us.

3. License to use (you do not buy the Game)

3.1. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable license to install and play the Game for personal, non-commercial entertainment, under Brazilian Law No. 9,609/1998 (Software Law).

3.2. You do not buy the Game: you receive a license to use it. Code, art, music, sounds, characters, names, trademarks (including "Age of Popcorn" and "ButterPop") and all other elements remain the property of ButterPop or of those who license them to us (Law No. 9,610/1998, Copyright Law). Some art and sounds belong to third parties under their own licenses.

3.3. Without our written permission, you may not:

  • copy, sell, rent, lend, resell or transfer the Game, your Account or Game items;
  • decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the Game, except to the extent the law expressly allows;
  • modify the Game, inject code or use programs that change the Game's memory, network traffic or files;
  • extract art, sounds, models or music to use outside the Game;
  • create or use unauthorized servers that imitate the Online services;
  • use bots, macros or any automation that plays for you;
  • use the Game for commercial purposes, such as selling wins, selling leaderboard positions, or running paid tournaments or betting.

3.4. Videos and streams: you may record, stream and publish videos of the Game and earn money from them (for example, through your channel's ads), as long as you do not say or suggest that ButterPop endorses you without an agreement, do not break these Terms or the law, and do not use files extracted from the Game. In case of abuse, we may ask for removal.

3.5. The Game may update itself. To use the Online services you may need the latest version.

4. Your account

4.1. The Account is personal. Creating several accounts to gain an advantage (for example, raiding your own village to collect Crests or climb the leaderboard) is cheating.

4.2. You are responsible for what happens in your Account and for protecting your login (Steam, Google, Apple, email). Do not share, sell or lend it. If you think someone used your Account without permission, tell us right away. This does not remove any rights you have by law.

4.3. Use true information when the Game or the login service asks for it. If you lose access, recovery depends on the login service you chose (Unity, Steam, Google, Apple). We cannot promise to recover an account whose access was lost.

5. Age, minors under 18 and guardians

5.1. The Game is not recommended for children under 13. The Game cannot confirm anyone's age: anyone who picks on the acceptance screen a year of birth that points to age 12 or younger is asked to have a parent or guardian read it along. If we learn that an Account belongs to a child under 13, we delete the Account and its data.

5.2. At first launch, the Game asks for your year of birth and uses that year only to decide whether you are under 18. We store only the result (under 18, yes or no), never your year of birth or your age. Because the Game uses only the year, anyone who turns 18 during the current year is treated as a minor, and so is an invalid year. The information is your own statement: please answer truthfully. If we have reason to believe you are a minor and you stated otherwise, we may apply the protections in this section.

5.3. Anyone under 18 may use the Game only with the knowledge and permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms and the Privacy Policy on the minor's behalf and is responsible for the minor as the law provides (Brazilian Civil Code, arts. 3 and 4). Acceptance by the minor counts as a statement that the guardian authorized it.

5.4. What changes for anyone who says they are under 18 (measures designed with Brazil's Digital Statute for Children and Adolescents, ECA Digital, Law No. 15,211/2025, in mind):

  • the display name is hidden on leaderboards (League and Survival) and in attacks: "Player" plus four numbers appears. Friends still see the chosen name;
  • voice chat starts off and, in the match connection notice, the turn-on button only points to the Options. A minor can turn voice on in Options, Sound tab, Voice chat; for that reason, we recommend that the guardian talk with the minor about it;
  • match invites only arrive from friends;
  • there are no real-money purchases, loot boxes, ads, commercial profiling or text chat;
  • we collect only the data the Game needs to work (see the Privacy Policy).

5.5. For everyone, voice starts off. You turn it on in Options, Sound tab, and you can turn it off at any time.

5.6. Guardians may ask, by the contact email, for deletion of a minor's Account, access to the minor's data and information about how it is processed. To answer, we may ask for information that confirms the person asking is the guardian. We recommend talking with the minor about online play and using Steam's and the device's parental controls.

6. Conduct rules

6.1. To keep the Game good for everyone, the following is forbidden:

  • Cheating: using third-party programs, changing memory, files or network traffic, using automation, or deliberately exploiting a Game bug for advantage. Found a bug? Tell us instead of using it.
  • Manipulating leaderboards, the League or Crests: arranging results, raiding your own or friends' accounts to pass resources or Crests, using multiple accounts, selling or buying wins.
  • Abuse: harassment, threats, stalking, discrimination or hate speech (race, color, ethnicity, origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age), sexual content, praise of crime or violence, scams and spam.
  • Offensive or misleading display names: names that are offensive, discriminatory or sexual, that imitate ButterPop or another person, or that contain personal data (full name, phone, email, address, social media), links or third-party trademarks. We may replace the name with a generic one without notice.
  • Misuse of voice: everything above applies to voice too. In addition: do not make noise on purpose to disrupt, do not record or share another person's voice without permission (except to report it), do not ask for personal data or contact outside the Game, and never approach minors with bad intentions.
  • Attacking the service: hacking, overloading, testing for flaws without permission or trying to reach other people's data. If you find a security flaw, tell us at the contact email.
  • Breaking the law in any way through the Game.

6.2. Reports: by email to duofinder.contato@gmail.com, with the other player's display name and what happened.

6.3. Measures. Depending on severity and repetition, we may: warn you; change your name; remove you from leaderboards and the League; reset Crests, resources or achievements gained irregularly; suspend your Account for a while; or close it. In serious cases (cheating with software, threats, content involving minors, crimes) we may act without warning. Whenever possible, we will give the reason. You may appeal at the contact email and we answer within 15 days.

6.4. We may keep and hand over records to authorities when the law or a court order requires (Brazil's Internet Civil Framework, Law No. 12,965/2014).

7. Online play and raids between players

7.1. Your village can be raided by other players, even when you are not playing. Losing resources and Crests within the rules of the Game is part of the fun. It is not a defect and gives no right to a refund or compensation.

7.2. The server decides. Raid results, loot, Crests and the League are calculated by the server. If the server and the copy on your device differ, the server prevails.

7.3. Matches may include bots (AI) to fill in for players. Connection drops may interrupt a match and make you lose its result.

7.4. We may change the balance of the Game (numbers, troops, prices, rules, shield) at any time, to keep the Game fair, without compensation.

8. Crests, resources and virtual rewards

8.1. Crests, resources, troops, buildings, achievements and other rewards are virtual elements. You receive a license to use them inside the Game. They have no cash value, cannot be sold, bought, or exchanged for money or for items outside the Game, and give no ownership rights. We do not buy them back.

8.2. We may adjust, reset (for example, each League season) or remove virtual elements, for game balance or for violations of these Terms.

8.3. Today the Game sells nothing for real money and has no loot boxes. If it ever sells something, there will be a clear notice, these Terms will be updated and the Game will ask for acceptance again.

8.4. Leaderboards and the League give only virtual rewards. Any tournament or giveaway will have its own rules.

9. Player content

9.1. You are responsible for your Player content and confirm that you may use it and that it respects these Terms.

9.2. You give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to show your display name and village layout in the Game (to other players, in leaderboards, reports and matches), only so the Game works.

9.3. Suggestions and ideas you send us may be used by us without payment or credit, and this does not transfer your personal data.

9.4. We may remove Player content that breaks these Terms, with no court order needed.

10. Third-party services

10.1. The Game uses Unity (accounts, saving, servers, friends, voice), Steam (Valve), and Google or Apple if you choose to sign in with them. Each has its own terms and privacy policy, which apply to what they do. Purchases and refunds on Steam follow the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Steam's refund policy.

10.2. Valve and the stores are not parties to these Terms and are not responsible for the Game. Failures of those services are outside our control.

11. The online service may change or end

11.1. The Game is an evolving service. We may add, change or remove features, modes, seasons and events (such as Halloween and Survival, which have dates), perform maintenance and interrupt the service.

11.2. We may end part or all of the online service for technical, economic or legal reasons. When possible, we will give at least 30 days' notice, in the Game and on the Steam page, and will tell you what keeps working without a server. Your consumer rights remain in force.

11.3. The free demo has limited features (for example, the village only reaches level 2 and some screens are locked). The village built in the demo carries over to the full game, on the same account. Test versions may have bugs and progress resets.

12. No guarantee of perfect operation

12.1. We do our best, but the Game is complex software and may have bugs, outages and progress loss. To the extent the law allows, the Game is provided "as is", with no guarantee that it will run without interruption, without errors or on every device. Minimum requirements are on the Steam page.

12.2. This does not remove the legal warranty against product defects under Brazil's Consumer Defense Code (arts. 18 and 20).

13. Limit of liability

13.1. To the maximum extent allowed by Brazilian law, ButterPop is not liable for: loss of progress, village or Crests caused by a technical failure without our gross negligence; the actions of other players; failures of Steam, Unity or other third parties; internet, power or device failures; use of the Game against these Terms; or acts of God and force majeure (Civil Code, art. 393).

13.2. Where the law allows a limit (mainly if you use the Game as a business), our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Game.

13.3. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits what the law does not allow to be excluded or limited, such as intent, gross negligence, harm to life or physical integrity, the rights under the Consumer Defense Code, and the special protection of children and teenagers.

13.4. If you break these Terms and this harms ButterPop or third parties, you are liable for the harm as the law provides.

14. Privacy and data

14.1. Personal data is handled as set out in the Privacy Policy (Law No. 13,709/2018, LGPD), which is part of these Terms. We do not record voice.

14.2. Access records (such as the IP address) may be kept by the services the Game uses, for the periods and under the conditions of the law (Brazil's Internet Civil Framework, Law No. 12,965/2014) and of each service's policy.

15. Closing the account

15.1. By you: at any time, in Options, Account, Delete my account (two steps: warning and confirmation), on the deletion page, or by email. We delete your village, Crests and game data, and this cannot be undone. Your license ends. A purchase made on Steam stays with Steam: deleting the Account is not a refund (refunds only under Steam's rules).

15.2. By us: we may suspend or close the Account if you break these Terms, in case of fraud, a security risk, a legal order or the end of the service. Whenever possible, we will give the reason (see 6.3).

15.3. After closing, the parts that by nature keep applying (copyright, limit of liability, law and venue) remain in force. Data is handled as the Privacy Policy says.

16. Changes to these Terms

16.1. We may change these Terms. Each version has a number and date at the top. When we change them, we will tell you in the Game (News) and the acceptance screen will appear again at the first launch after publication. Without accepting the new version, you cannot use the Game. You may then delete the Account (section 15) and, if you bought the Game, ask for a refund under the store's rules.

16.2. We keep earlier versions. Changes do not harm rights you have already acquired.

17. Contact

For questions, reports, appeals, and deletion or data requests: duofinder.contato@gmail.com. We answer within 15 days. You may also contact Procon and consumidor.gov.br in Brazil and, for personal data, the ANPD (gov.br/anpd).

18. Governing law and venue

18.1. Brazilian law applies.

18.2. Venue: if you are a consumer, the courts of your place of residence (Consumer Defense Code, art. 101, I). In all other cases, the courts of São Paulo, SP, Brazil. For people living outside Brazil, Brazilian law applies, without removing rights that are mandatory in their home country.

19. General provisions
